Aiguille du Midi – Arete des Cosmiques, France

Our three days in the Mont Blanc Massif were organized by:

Gauillaume MARDON, Manager Challenger 2, Guides de haute montagne, email: ghm_mardon@yahoo.fr

I previously climbed the Gran Paradiso with GM and was happy to have his team guide us also on Mont Blanc.

In preparation for the Mont Blanc ascent, we climbed the “Arete des Cosmiques, 3850 meters/12,600ft

The easy part is taking the cable car from Chamonix up to the Aiguille du Midi. Then the challenge begins, exiting the to the narrow snow ridge leading to the glacier. This is also “crampon point”.

For an opportunity climber like me, this mixed snow, ice and rock ridge is pretty hard to climb but with the help of a good guide, like ours, it was an enjoyable adventure and good preparation for the days to come on Mont Blanc.
